The third-generation "muscled-up" RAV4 brings new levels of ride and handling, interior space, safety and versatility to the compact sports utility vehicle market. The four new models feature a sophisticated active torque control 4WD system which automatically distributes torque between the front and rear wheels depending on available traction or driving conditions. This results in improved fuel-efficiency while maintaining the advantages of four-wheel-drive. A 50:50 front-to-rear four-wheel-drive lock can also be engaged by the driver at speeds below 40 kilometres per hour.
